Clippings HIX Stand 2022
Clippings HIX Stand 2022
An exhibition or conference is a mini city full of exhibitors, visitors, and a variety of spatial conditions, challenging stall-holders to stand out and establish a lasting impression. The Clippings Stand for HIX 2022 has been developed as a representation of Clippings’ values and ambitions. Like the Clippings platform itself, the exhibition design aims to bring people together and offer a window to great design.
In section, there are three ordered strata: The solid base of oak, offering a warm, tactile place to sit; a central zone of fabric walls and columns, which control acoustic conditions to create a calm space within the wider setting of the exhibition hall; and the soffit, forming an enclosure of textured plaster defining the extent of the stand.
Inspiration was taken from Haussmann’s boulevards in Paris which were conceived to bring air and light to the dense centre of the city. The stand is seen as a focal point like a tree in open space, becoming a natural place to congregate and meet. To define this focal point, the stand takes further reference from the Pantheon. A canopy is created with the addition of a cylindrical soffit, forming a place to gather in a more intimate and focussed environment. Circular geometries and proportions which originate from the cylindrical soffit create defined seating zones and vertical structure — which is kept at a minimum to ensure openness and connectivity.
