A large home with split levels to the rear has restricted connections to the lower most level and a dated rear extension limits the use of the raised external terrace. The conversion of the garage and the provision of a basement give the opportunity to readdress this disparate sectional arrangement; successfully linking the rear living spaces.
The relationship between these various levels is resolved with the introduction of a unifying stratum formed of cast concrete. This concrete stratum establishes a visual and performative link between spaces, acting as floor, ceiling, walls and kitchen.
